Power Electronics Engineering Manager

Eaton's new campus for its critical power systems in Vantaa, Finland, was completed in November 2023. The 16,500 m² site houses research and development, manufacturing, warehousing, sales and service under one roof, which will create plenty of additional jobs.

As one of the world's largest manufacturers of three-phase uninterruptible power supplies (UPS), Eaton's expansion in this area is driven by strong business growth and the demand for systems that ensure business continuity. Situated in a prime location next to the Helsinki airport, the Vantaa facility will serve as Eaton's Critical Power Solutions headquarters and a center of excellence for data centers.

What you'll do:

As a Power Electronics Engineering Manager, you will lead an 8- person strong team at EMEA 3-phase UPS R&D organization. The team includes power electronics engineers developing and sustaining UPS and Energy storage products.

Responsibilities:

  • Leads and manages Power Electronics Engineering team
  • Coordinates power electronics engineer resourcing in R&D projects
  • Gives technical supervision in design tasks
  • Participates in R&D activities as a technical expert
  • Coordinates engineering process development activities related to power electronics engineering
  • Responsible of teams job safety in R&D test labs together with Lead Safety Engineer
  • Guides and mentors colleagues on UPS design and testing
  • Gives technical support on UPS systems to product management, technical support, sales support, manufacturing and sales
  • Manages competence and performance development of his/her direct reports
  • Recruits team members, maintains team proficiency
  • Manages working hours, absences and vacation administration of the team

Qualifications:

  • Master / Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent

Skills:

  • Experience in power electronics (preferable), or a very strong experience in electrical product design. Understanding of for example mechanics and embedded technology are considered a strong advantage.
  • Experience from working in cross-functional teams, and preferably experience from working in an international team or organization.
  • Experience from team leading, or at least strong competencies to take that step in your career.
  • Strong English language skills, in both writing and speaking.
